Our process

Installing solar with Harrisons

From your on-site assessment to grid connection, we'll guide you through each step.

1
STEP ONE

On-site assessment

We'll come round to assess your home's solar potential, talk through your current power bill, and check whether your roof is suitable.

STEP two

Planning

Together, we'll get clear on your goals, answer your questions, look at purchase options and incentives, and walk you through the solar process so you can decide what works for your home.

2

STEP three

Installation

Depending on your system size and roof type, installation can take 4 to 8 hours or a couple of days. An electrician and solar installer will fit and wire the panels on the roof, install the inverter, connect it to your internet router or cellular network if monitoring is needed, set up any extra items needed to better control hot water or other appliances, and get the system ready to switch on.

STEP Four

Grid connection and set up

Your meter may need to be replaced with an import/export meter, so any credit you're owed for sending extra power back to the grid can be measured. Once you're connected, we'll get you set up on the app so you can see what your system's doing, right from your phone.

STEP Five

Ongoing support

Your local business owner is backed by a dedicated customer care team at the end of the phone, with technical support on hand whenever you need it, for the life of your panels.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

All your solar questions answered

Will solar work in New Zealand?

Absolutely! New Zealand has abundant sunshine and generates between 1,700 and 2,100 sunshine hours annually. Some areas, like Nelson and Gisborne, receive as much as 2,400. Solar Panels don’t require sunshine; they require daylight, so Solar Panels work year-round, even in the lower South Island.

How many solar panels do I need?

The average energy consumption is essential in determining the number of Solar Panels you need. A retired couple will have a different power consumption than a young family, plus pools, spas, and electric cars can also impact energy requirements.

The amount of energy Solar Panels can generate depends on sun hours and is therefore affected by your location.

Your roof size is crucial because it determines the number of Panels that can fit on your roof, how much energy will be generated, and the cost.
