How do I set up my Fronius Solar.web monitoring account?

Go to solarweb.com and create an account, then let us know - we'll send you a request to grant permission so the system shows up under your account (and so we can keep an eye on it for you). Your inverter needs to be connected to your home WiFi for data to appear.

My monitoring app isn't showing any data - is my system broken?

Almost always this is just the internet/monitoring connection dropping out - your solar is very likely still generating normally. Common causes are a changed WiFi router or password, a new modem, or the inverter losing internet after a power cut. Check the inverter lights (green = generating, Solid Blue = connected to wifi), then reconnect WiFi or do a restart. Depending on how long your system has been offline for your history will normally upload once the connection has been restored provided it has only been a short outage however long outages may cause some lost data

How can I tell if my system is underperforming?

Compare current generation against your own history in Solar.web (same season, similar weather) rather than against a single sunny day. Short-term dips from cloud, shading or seasonal change are normal. A sudden ongoing drop, or zero output in full sun, is worth investigating - note any error codes and contact us.

Why is my solar generating less in winter or on cloudy days?

This is normal. Output depends on how much sunlight hits the panels, so it drops in winter (shorter days, lower sun) and on cloudy, rainy or shaded days. Over the year it balances out, and there's usually plenty of generation in the sunnier months. Your Solar.web history shows the seasonal pattern.

How do I get the most value out of my solar system?

Use power while the sun is shining - run the dishwasher, washing machine and heat your hot water cylinder during the day rather than at night. Set your hot water timer to daytime, charge your EV on solar surplus, and if you have a battery use the right operating mode. The more solar you use yourself, the more you save versus exporting it at a lower buy-back rate.

Do I need to clean my solar panels, and how often?

Once a year is plenty for most NZ homes - use a soft-bristle brush and water only (no chemicals or detergents usually required). There's usually enough rain in New Zealand to keep panels clear of dust.

What do flashing or changing lights on my Fronius inverter mean?
