Fifteen years of solar, in one room

A night to launch The Solar People, and thank the people behind it

We've spent a good chunk of this year talking about what The Solar People means to our business. Earlier this month we stopped talking about it, and just had a look around the room.

Solar has been part of the Harrisons Group for 15 years now. It started small, and has grown into a nationwide network of local business owners and install teams working in their own towns, on their neighbours' roofs. That felt worth marking properly, so we did!

We presented specially designed jerseys to every Harrisons Solar business owner who has been with us five years or more, numbered in the order they joined. A nod to the way our great sporting teams honour those who came before, and a way of recognising their contribution and legacy. The longest serving, Andrew, has been with us from the start, since well before solar was a normal sight on a New Zealand street.

That was really the point of the night. Behind every one of those numbers is a solar person with thousands of early starts and late nights, tricky rooflines, and hundreds of families who got a straight answer and a solar system that did what it said it would.

We also said thank you to the people who make the boat go faster: our support crew, several of them five years and counting, and the team who spent the past year putting everything together.

Because The Solar People isn't a new set of words. It's a simpler way of describing who we are, and a brand is only as good as the people delivering it. It may look a bit different, but it really just captures what we've been doing for those 15 years and plan on doing well into the future. Good people helping Kiwi families with solar they can rely on and trust. That's what the room was full of.

So, to everyone who was there, and to every customer who has chosen to work with a Harrisons Solar business owner or installer, we are thankful for your trust in us.

Fifteen years in, we reckon we're only getting warmed up.
